Salman Mansour; Talal Skaik
This paper presents design of a broadband antenna for RF/microwave energy harvesting applications. The antenna operates within the frequency range 790 MHz to 3.4 GHz. The antenna is designed over wide frequency range to collect energy of signals of various communication systems such as: digital TV, GSM-900, GSM-1800, UMTS, LTE, WiFi, and WiMax. The antenna is designed using microstrip technology on an FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.3 and thickness of 1.6 mm. The conducting element is formed of a star-shaped microstrip patch. Moreover, crescent and rectangular slots are cut onto the patch element to broaden the bandwidth. The antenna is designed using CST simulation software and the maximum simulated in-band gain reaches 3.93 dBi at 1.7 GHz
